A few of my favorite things and cozy comforts on the consumer end. I love to shop locally when I’m able to afford it ~ so the local farmers market is one of my favorite shops, as well as the Co-Op where I can buy food and spices from the bulk bins. My definition of local varies based on the product – produce and nuts from my valley or one of the immediate valleys, wines made in the state (and when your state is CA that’s a pretty easy thing to do). For me it’s not a restriction but a goal, to spend my money with local vendors when I’m able to and after that, I also prefer to support small vendors and environmentally friendly companies.
Food
- Tea: Mint… mint mint mint…. spearmint yum
- Cypress Grove Humboldt Fog Cheese
- Flourchylde Bakery – Pure Chocolate Torte ~ it’s absolutely delicious – hooked on these even before experimenting with gluten-light diet (only buy this maybe twice a year – it’s a splurge treat)
- Frozen Yogurt – soft serve frozen yogurt is always better than ice cream in my book
- Almond Butter – yes, I’m totally on that bandwagon – Usually buy from Sam Cabral & Family Orchard but if I need to save $ I stick to Blue Diamond because it’s a collection of growers located in California.
- Strawberries! Fresh strawberries in season are the best. Oh, and not strawberry flavored things – just real strawberries. Mmmmmmmm
Cleaning
- J.R. Watkins Natural All Purpose Cleaner – Aloe & Green Tea Scent
I LOVE cleaning with this stuff – a very light scent that dissipates quickly, enjoyable while it lasts but doesn’t linger. - Wave Lavender Dishwasher Detergent Powder
Health & Beauty
- Lotion: Joyful Girl Naturals Mango Butter – Lavender Peppermint Scent
I initially was directed there for a migraine rub, and I ordered the lotion as well ~ I’m finding the lotion incredibly wonderful, as a lotion and also for the scent therapy it provides. - Lotion I’d buy it if I could afford it… John Masters Organics Blood Orange & Vanilla Body Milk
Alternative Therapies/Exercise
- Qigong
- Acupressure Massage (love love love!)
- Acupuncture
- Yoga (I’m not sure this can be called alternative anymore!)… Had to discontinue due to headaches, but hopefully I can modify my practice
- ZUMBA!!!! (just started in Feb and I’m addicted)
